Changing a Retail Group to Non-Retail
This topic is intended for Independent pharmacies only and is not applicable to Rexall pharmacies.
There are two types of groups: retail and non-retail. Both types of groups can be batched but non-retail groups have the ability to assign Group Rx Statuses and Admin Times to each prescription. As a result, non-retail groups can be used for the following purposes:
-
Set up auto-dispensing for a group of patients.
-
Generate MAR, TAR, or TMR reports.
-
Organize prescriptions for batching.
In some cases, you may want to change a retail group to non-retail to gain access to the features outlined above.
To change a retail group to non-retail:
-
From the Workbench, select the Batch Manager navigator button .
-
Select the Groups tab.
-
Select the retail group.
-
Select Detail. The Group Folder opens.
-
Review the Type field.
-
Select More > List Maint. The List Maintenance window opens.

From the dropdown, select Group Types.
-
Locate the group type for your retail group and deselect the Retail checkbox.
-

-
Select Revert in the Group Folder. The group is now non-retail.
-
Optional: In the Preferences tab, select the following:
-
Prompt for Admin Time - when this checkbox is selected, a validation prompt appears in Rx Detail if Admin Times are not entered at the time of filling the prescription. You cannot proceed with filling until the information is entered.
If you are not sending prescriptions to a packager or generating MAR/TAR reports for the group patients, you do not need to prompt for Admin Times.
